Something Big

On the front burner for me right now is a media outreach project called, Something Big.  The center piece of this project is a dramatic comedy movie of the same title.   We have a script. Here is what Tracey Becker, Producer of the recently released theatrical comedy, Hysteria said about Something Big

"The Something Big movie is "a rarity, a well-crafted ensemble drama that entertains highly, while also almost accidentally enlightening its audience. With a deft combination of political messages and outrageous yet embraceable characters, it has a twisty plot that would make the religious right weak in the knees. Something Big is a fascinating mash-up of 'pick-your-wing' politics, professional wrestling, Hollywood insiders, reality television disgraces, the sex worker trade, and modern romance.... From a marketing perspective, there is so much to recommend about this script.... The characterizations will likely attract a high caliber cast.... The fascinating world the author has created should speak to audiences on many levels - at first glance, it is pure entertainment, but on close inspection, the themes of greed, self-aggrandizement, and the co-opting of global causes to benefit enterprises that might not have started off so highmindedly, all contribute to the richer tapestry of this script."

This project is about inspiring people to be Change Agents. It succeeds first as a powerful entertainment. It is also an unimpeachible source of awareness. The overriding goal is to nudge the world in a positive and sustainable direction.

To bring Something Big to life, my business partner, Chad Kirkpatrick, and I have adopted an untraditional strategy, because going the traditional route through the studio system would almost assuredly result in the project being stripped of substance. Our approach involves teaming up with a handful of distinguished people and organizations who share our values. We believe that gives us the best chance ot protecting the integrity of the project. The biggest share of the revenue stream from Something Big will go to our non-profit partners.

The Something Big Outreach is focused on three areas.

Women's Empowerment - Building a global society that is just and sustainable requires the full and equal participation of women.

American Governance and Citizen Rights - Our Constitutional democracy is withering under a heavily funded, very sophisticated and decades old assault by a privileged minority that concentrate society's wealth and power. The Something Big message is that the arts and the internet are critical to a democratic push back against entrenched and heavily advantaged special interests.

Biodiversity Protection and Animal Rights - The third focus of the Something Big outreach will be on stemming biodiversity loss. The massive weight of the human culture is crushing the natural world. Reconnecting with our natural roots is fundamental to restoring and sustaining our planet's precious living fabric.  Two much valued advisors to the Something Big outreach are Michael Tobias, President of the Santa Monica, California based, Dancing Star Foundation (DSF), and Jane Morrison, DSF Executive Vice President. Our outreach on issues related to biodiversity and animal rights will go through DSF.

Product Placement - Embedding products in the scenes of a movie can amount to big money. We are open only to products and businesses that fit appropriately with the Something Big ideals.

We are just beginning to pursue our unconventional strategy for developing Something Big. That's as much as I want to say about it for now.

'Be the change.'  That is our mantra.
